WELCOME

PRELUDE Open My Eyes That I May See arr. Tedd Smith

*INVOCATION from 2 Kings 2 (Liturgists words; Congregation’s words)
Liturgist: Sisters and Brothers, lay down your burdens and be at peace.
Breathe in God’s loving power; breathe out life’s driving fears; rest in the light of the world.
All: We open to the Light of light; we open to the All in all;
we open to the Strength of our strength; we open to the Heart of our hearts.
Women: We open to communion with God;
Men: we open to communion with one another;
All: we open so God’s light may fill the world.

*HYMN 262 God of the Ages

* PRAYERS OF FAITH from Psalm 119, John 1, Mark 3
Brothers and Sisters, it is said,
Trust in God grows as we find God’s power in our lives
and as we discover God’s blessing is for all.
When we see clearly, we see the power and goodness of God --
that God’s gift is truth and grace
that God’s will is life and joy.
So in words of scripture we express our growing faith:
All: Holy One, we believe that all things come into being from you,
Women: and what comes into being is life, and this life is the light of all people;
Men: and all who welcome the light, who trust in its power,
receive the power to become your children;
Women: for your light is full of your grace and truth,
Men: and becomes flesh full of your glory.
All: And we believe that it is for us, filled with grace and truth,
to prepare your way so your kingdom will come.

SCRIPTURE Psalm 23

CONTEMPLATION The God of Love My Shepherd Is (Psalm 23) Thomas Tallis

PRAYER OF HOPE withThe Lord’s Prayer
Eternal Giver of grace and truth, we pray in hope
Men: that we’ll not block your grace and lose our power;
Women: that we’ll not cloud your truth and lose our way;
Men: that we’ll not cloud with greed and lose our friends
Women: that we’ll not cloud with pride and lose our goals.
All: Feed our spirits that we may be the fruit you bear
to spread your seeds of kindness ever more.
In this hope we pray as Jesus taught:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen

ASSURANCE
Be at peace and rest assured –
if you follow the shepherd’s caring guiding voice
you will be on the holy way and you will reach the promised land.
